Alex and Max envisioned having an whimsical yet modern wedding in the heart of downtown Richmond, where they are both from. With the ceremony and reception held at separate locations, Alex and Max wanted to play into the vibe of each venue for their details.
Tucked away in the neighborhood, Windsor Farms, in Richmond, VA, you’ll find the beautiful Virginia House. It was previously an English manor house and was relocated to Richmond in 1925. It sits on a hillside overlooking the James River and is filled with lush gardens and historic English Tudor architecture at every turn, serving as the perfect backdrop for a whimsical garden ceremony. Alex and Max decided to lean into the vibrant colors of summer as their palette, and asymmetrical florals designed by Olivera Floral Design added the perfect punch to their ceremony space.
The reception was held at Common House No. 2 and added the contrasting modern vibe to the day in addition to the whimsical garden ceremony. Common House served as the perfect backdrop for a modern, yet eclectic reception with the vibrant summer color palette carrying throughout. From rooftop sunset portraits to New England themed signature cocktails (a nod to their current home!) to outdoor dancing and toasts, it was the perfect summer evening.
